October 14, 2007

After a nice 7-5 win in game 1, the Tartan bats exploded in game 2 against CCAC Boyce, with every starter contributing at least a hit and a run, as CMU won 20-7. The Tartans also got complete game outings from Tim Sandy in game 1 and Eric Hayes in game 2.

In game one, the Tartans jumped out to an early 1-0 in the top of the first, but Boyce came right back to put up 2 runs (only 1 earned) in the bottom of the frame. Boyce would tack on 3 more in the next 3 innings and CMU added 1 of their own, making it 5-2 after 4 innings.

From there, the Tartans took control. Tim Sandy didn't allow a baserunner over the remaining 3 innings and the offense came up big, putting up 2 in the fifth and 3 in the seventh to win 7-5.

In game two, everything went right for the Tartans. Leading 3-2 after 3 innings, the Tartans batted around in both the fourth and fifth innings, putting up 17 runs and making starter Eric Hayes job easy. He allowed one big inning in the fourth, but it didn't matter as he threw a complete game for the win.

The Tartans finish the season today at home against Boyce. Their record currently stands at 6-6.
