With the Anniversary of 9/11 looming large, the Tartans rally to three convincing wins over the weekend.
These wins leave the Tartans undefeated at 5-0.
Game 1 vs. Robert Morris on Saturday was often interrupted by fly-overs due to the Pittsburgh Air Show. This only made the Tartan bats stronger as they scored 23 runs in the 5 inning mercy rule game.
Game 2 was another big victory for the Tartans, with great pitching from Eric Bruner. Bruner also was able to hit for the cycle over the two games. The game was called due to rain after the fifth inning was completed. This still constitutes an official game.
On Sunday, the Tartans took on CCAC South, which promised to be a challenge. Behind stellar pitching by Bennet Poepping and Brendan MacNabb, the Tartans were able to win again, 14-4. The game was slightly odd since we played one 10 inning game instead of 2 seven inning games. Nonetheless Bennet Poepping was awarded a complete game win after pitching 7 solid innings. Brendan MacNabb then came in showcasing his cutter and knuckleball combination.
