Carnegie Mellon joins NCBA
August 12, 2005
The Carnegie Mellon Baseball Club announced today that it has joined the National Club Baseball Association and will compete in its New Penn West Conference beginning with the Spring 2006 season. The announcement was made by President Kevin Cohn.
The National Club Baseball Association is the governing body for collegiate club baseball in North America. Its 2001 inaugural season included 34 colleges and universities; in 2005, over 80 teams will compete as members of the association.
Carnegie Mellon will compete against division rivals Penn State, Kent State, Bucknell, and Robert Morris for the chance to advance to the playoffs and the NCBA World Series. The 2005 NCBA World Series was held May 25-30, 2005, in Bradenton, Florida.
"We're excited to be joining the New Penn West Conference. The NCBA will give the Club a chance to compete against the best teams in the country. We're all looking forward to capturing the division title, and more, next May," said Cohn.
In addition to league games, the Club will continue its intercollegiate schedule against regional opponents in both the Fall and Spring seasons. The Club opens its Fall 2005 season on the road against Robert Morris on Saturday, September 3.
